Freedom

I press my feet against
the solid wall, like a tree
spreading its roots,
drilling them into the earth.

I take a look around,
discovering this green world
as a child beholds it
for the very first time.

I unfurl my arms
like a bird trying
to embrace it all, lifting,
flying away into eternal space.

I breathe in and out
slowly, blowing like
the wind, which gently
strokes my hair and skin.

I liberate my soul
standing here on the edge,
feeling truly free
for the very first time.

I really loved the picture and had to write a poem about it.
Unfortunately I have never been to the great wall yet but I'd love to be there one day...
